The photographs that you see here are a small demonstration of the combat of Jeet Kune Do. The phase that is represented is the grappling range.
In JKD there is kicking range, punching range, and grappling range being the closest to your attacker. JKD is a well rounded combat art in that you are not limited in what you can do to defend yourself. You have many techniques or tools that you can use and you are not bound to a certain few by the traditional style. This is what set Jeet Kune Do above other martial arts. The style or moves fit the individual, not that the individual must fit the style. In some instances a person may have physical limitation or injuries that prevent them from punching or kicking in a certain way (like high kicks), and JKD is perfect for them.
The JKD person takes what is useful and can disregard what they cannot perform.
The grappling aspect as shown in the pictures is much more than just punching and kicking. You must use your brain, which is the most dangerous weapon that a martial artist has at his disposal. With simple movements you can choke the attacker, break his arm in multiple ways, and take them to the ground, all with basic small efficient movements. With the limited need for large movements the art of JKD can work well with the martial artist into old age, and this the Chinese say is the hallmark of the best martial art.
It has been an honor to share and to speak with our members in India. I hope to come to India and do the largest Jeet Kune Do Seminar ever held in the future. |

Best wishes and train hard!
